Apollo 15, Warren Central 0
The Apollo Eagles did everything they needed to and did it quickly Monday as they cruised to the 15-0 win in three innings over Warren Central at AHS.
It was not only a win for the Eagles but a memorable day on multiple fronts as it was Tony Mattingly’s last game at Eagle Stadium as an assistant coach for Apollo. The game also had a record broken with Harrison Bowman stealing his 34th base of the year to break a record that was set in 1985.
Landon Hamilton got the win as he struck out four and allowed two hits in the victory.
Bowman went 3-3, grabbed two triples and scored three times in his record-breaking game.
Tanner Klee (2-2, RBI, 2 R), Maxwell Holder (1-3, 2B, 3 RBI, R), Dan St. Clair (1-2, HR, RBI, R) and Landon Hamilton (1-1, 2 RBI) had big days in the win.
Apollo plays at 7 p.m. Saturday against Daviess County in the first round of the 9th District Tournament at Shifley Park.
Henderson County 11, Daviess County 10
Despite being down 11-3, the Daviess County Panthers gave it all they had after scoring seven runs in the final three frames but the Henderson County Colonels were too much in their 11-10 win over DC.
DC led 3-0 after the first but the Colonels scored the next 11 runs to take a big lead before the Panthers made their run.
Decker Renfrow (4-4, 2B, 3 R), Cason Troutman (3-5, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R), Zach Head (2-4, HR, 2 RBI, R), Garrett Small (2-4, 2B, 2 RBI, R), Layton Huskisson (1-4, RBI), and Owen Payne (1-3, R) had solid days at the plate.
