OPD searching for man after alleged armed bank robbery; suspect may still be armed

PNC Bank alleged robbery

The Owensboro Police Department is searching for a man after an alleged armed bank robbery Thursday morning. OPD said the suspect may still be armed and to not approach him.

As of 3 p.m., OPD officials said the suspect had still not been apprehended. Public Information Officer Andrew Boggess said detectives are working various leads and looking for camera footage from nearby businesses as they continue the search.

At approximately 9:21 a.m., OPD responded to PNC Bank (3013 Frederica St.) for a bank robbery, according to reports.

OPD said PNC employees advised a Black male suspect armed with a handgun entered the business demanding money and fled on foot with an undetermined amount of money before officers arrived.

Owensboro Times staff on scene observed officers walking down Legion Boulevard as they searched for the suspect. Groups of officers could also be seen stationed at other nearby areas.

K-9 officers along with OPD detectives responded to the scene and are investigating. Kentucky State Police also responded to the scene.
