Duke Brubaker and David Moore presented Sen. Matt Castlen a Legislative Achievement Award on behalf of the Kentucky Automobile Dealers Association (KADA) on Thursday, with the plaque noting “his dedicated service and support.”

“I’m appreciative of the award and the relationship that we have here with our dealerships,” Castlen said. “These individuals are the ones that deal with the people daily and understand the needs and how to streamline things. This is how as a legislator we communicate with our constituents and have an understanding, is dealing with people who do it as a professional every day. I appreciate this opportunity not only to receive an award, but just to hear some things that they’re in need of.”

Brubaker is General Manager and President at Champion Ford. Moore is Vice President of Fixed Operations at Don Moore Automotive. Both Brubaker and Moore serve as chairman on the KADA executive board.

KADA began presenting the award 2 years ago. Moore said the award was created to honor legislators that have been effective in helping positively address laws affecting the car business.

“It’s kind of our way to reward them to say thank you for your dedication to our industry, as well as to the citizens of the Commonwealth of Kentucky,” Moore said.

Castlen was chosen for the leadership he’s displayed, with Brubaker saying Castlen is a “great representative of our area.” Moore said he was on the call when Castlen was nominated.

“Basically what we did is we tried to go through and find the legislators that have served the Kentucky automobile dealers in a positive manner, and ones that are in leadership and can have influence over their constituents — in this case in the Senate — that can help move things along,” Moore said.

Jason Wilson, president of KADA, said they were pleased to recognize Castlen with the legislative award.

“We appreciate the work of the senator and his support of our car dealers,” Wilson said. “The senator worked especially hard in his efforts to ensure Kentucky businesses will be able to provide their essential services. We believe the car dealers of Kentucky are vital to keep Kentuckians’ lives moving forward in these difficult times.”
