Owensboro Public Schools and Owensboro Catholic Schools will be closed Thursday, while Daviess County Public Schools will be closed both Thursday and Friday. Each school district will be utilizing remote instruction.
Owensboro Public Schools
OPS will utilize a non-traditional instructional (NTI) day Thursday. As this counts as a school day, it will not have to be made up at the end of the year. More information on NTI days can be found here.
Daviess County Public Schools
DCPS will be closed Thursday and Friday, and will be using their fourth and fifth DCPS@Home days. More information on DCPS@Home can be found here.
Elementary students (grades P-5) should log in with their teachers at 9 a.m. Thursday and complete “DCPS@Home Day 4” assignments in their packets; and log in at 9 a.m. Friday and complete “DCPS@Home Day 5” assignments. These assignments are also posted on the website linked above. Middle and high school class schedules are also included on the website linked above.
According to an announcement from DCPS Superintendent Matt Robbins, “The decision to implement these DCPS@Home days is based on the forecast of inclement weather and potentially hazardous travel conditions, as well as the community rate of COVID-19, which has made it difficult for us to provide operational bus transportation and in-person classroom instruction.”
Because of anticipated road/travel conditions, DCPS will not serve curbside meals on Thursday.
“At this time, we anticipate a return to in-person teaching and learning on Monday, Jan. 24,” Robbins said. “We appreciate the cooperation and support of our families in continuing the success of the DCPS@Home option, which allows students to continue learning without disruption.”
