Daviess County Public Schools and Owensboro Catholic Schools will utilize remote instruction Thursday, while Owensboro Public Schools will use a traditional snow day.
All local colleges and universities have closed their doors for Thursday as well. Brescia University said all BUonline classes will still be in session while the remaining closed their doors. Kentucky Wesleyan College will still be providing dining to students.
Daviess County Public Schools
DCPS will be closed Thursday and will be using their sixth DCPS@Home day. More information on DCPS@Home can be found here.
Elementary students (grades P-5) should log in with their teachers at 9 a.m. Thursday and complete “DCPS@Home Day 6” assignments in their packets; these assignments are also posted on the website linked above. Assignments are also provided in paper format in the DCPS@Home folder your child has at home.
Middle and high school schedules are also included on the website linked above. Because of the potential for power outages that may affect some areas of Daviess County, we are also making middle and high school assignments available in the Google Classroom platform. These may be downloaded and completed at any time.
As a reminder, DCPS@Home assignments are due within five school days. DCPS@Home days do not have to be made up at the end of the year.
Curbside Meals – The DCPS Food Services Department will serve curbside meals between 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 2, at all DCPS elementary schools. Parents/guardians may pick up meals at whichever location is most convenient for them. Students do not have to be present. Four meals will be provided: Two breakfasts and two lunches.
Owensboro Public Schools
Owensboro Public Schools will have a full snow day tomorrow Thursday. Students will not be required to make this day up. No decision has been made regarding Friday at this time, but we will communicate with families if a decision is made to be out on Friday as well. Two days worth of meals were sent home with students today at dismissal as well.
Owensboro Catholic Schools
Owensboro Catholic Schools will use an NTI day Thursday. No decision has been made regarding Friday’s instruction.
Owensboro Community and Technical College
OCTC said both the Frederica location and the Main campus on New Hartford are closed per Kentucky Community and Technical College decision.
Kentucky Wesleyan College
KWC is closed to Thursday as well. However, University Dining will still be available to students.
Brescia University
Brescia closed all buildings at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday and will be closed until further notice. Offices will also be closed and on-campus classes will not meet, however, BUonline classes will meet as usual.
Western Kentucky University – Owensboro
WKUO said that students in Connect courses should contact the instructor to access class content. Any additional cancellations will be announced via text, email or social media from the WKU officials. Follow www.wku.edu/news for the most up-to-date information.
