2018 Owensboro Air Show guide

On Friday, Sept. 14 from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. there will be a static and night show at Owensboro Regional Airport. The cost is $5 for adults, children 10 and under are free.

A wide range of military and civilian aircraft will be on static display Friday. It will also be  your chance to meet some of the pilots of these aircraft. At dusk, several performers will take to the sky to entertain the crowds with an evening spectacle of nighttime air show performances followed by fireworks to conclude the night, presented by Independence Bank.

On Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 16, the airshow will take place downtown from 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Performers will showcase vintage warbirds, aerobatic demonstrations, and military jets, including the Navy’s Blue Angels over the Ohio River in downtown Owensboro. There will be food vendors along the Owensboro Riverfront during this time, along with other booths, including “The Owensboro Times.” Stop by to get with “The Times.”

The “Blue Bridge” will be closed the following dates and times for the Owensboro Air Show and practice sessions:

  • Thursday, September 13 – 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Friday, September 14 – 12:00 pm – 4:00 pm
  • Saturday, September 15 – 7:00 am – 4:30 pm
  • Sunday, September 16 – 12:30 pm – 4:30 pm

Owensboro Fire Chief Mitchell confirmed an advisory will be put out for recreational boats on the Ohio river, Thursday through Sunday. Because river conditions are too dangerous, no boats will be allowed on the river within city limits for the air show, 12:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
