Local filmmaker Daniel Benedict will debut his new film “The Bloody Man” on July 30 at Malco Owensboro Cinema Grill.

Benedict said he has been working on the locally made movie for the last four years — but the idea began when he was a kid in the late 1980s when he wrote a series of stories called “The Bloody Man.”

Several years ago, Benedict said he found those stories in a shoebox at his parents’ house. Now, those stories will be shared with an audience.

Ninety-five percent of the film was shot in Owensboro, and Benedict said several local businesses donated food, space and more to make the film a success.

“Hundreds of local actors, extras, crew members really gave it their all in the production of it,” he said. “It also stars a couple of actors from the ‘Nightmare on Elm Street movies who came to Owensboro to film.”

Tickets are on sale at thebloodyman.com.
