A night of live Americana and folk music will help kick off conference week in Owensboro as touring songwriters from across the country take the stage at Brasher’s Little Nashville on Wednesday.
The Pre-Folk Ramble is set for May 27 at Brasher’s and will serve as the unofficial start of the Southeast Regional Folk Alliance conference, commonly known as SERFA, which returns to the Owensboro Convention Center shortly after.
Presented by Visit Owensboro, the free concert will feature nationally touring folk and Americana artists performing original music in a songwriter-round format. Doors open at 6 p.m., with music scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Each artist will perform a 15-minute set, allowing audiences to hear a wide range of styles and songwriting influences throughout the evening.
“This is what SERFA is all about — connection through music,” Andy Brasher said in a release. “You’re going to hear incredible artists, many of them traveling in from across the country, in a setting that’s as real and authentic as it gets.”
Organizers said the event gives local audiences a chance to experience Americana music in an intimate setting while also helping introduce visiting musicians and conference attendees to Owensboro’s live music scene.
Featured artists include Tom Troyer, Rocky LeRoe, Ashtyn Barbaree, Andy Branton, Tina Ross, Lucy Isabel, Elizabeth McCorvey, and falllift.
