Congressman Brett Guthrie recently announced that the 2022 Congressional Art Competition for Kentucky’s Second District is officially underway. The overall winner’s artwork from each participating congressional district will be featured in the U.S. Capitol.

The deadline to submit artwork is April 14. The winners will be announced on April 25. The winners will also be posted on Guthrie’s website.

Students are encouraged to read the rules and guidelines, which can be found here. Contact Guthrie’s office at 270-842-9896 for questions.

In past competitions, the overall winner also received two roundtrip airline tickets to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. More information on prizes will be announced in the near future on the Congressional Institute’s website. The second- and third-place overall winners’ artworks will be displayed in Guthrie’s district office.

The competition for Kentucky’s Second District also includes a “Facebook Favorite” competition to allow the public to choose their favorite artwork. The public can vote on their favorite artworks from April 18-22 on Guthrie’s official Facebook page. The “Facebook Favorite” winner’s artwork will be featured in Congressman Guthrie’s District office.

The artworks are judged by an independent panel of art professors from colleges and universities in Kentucky’s Second District.

Members of the U.S. House of Representatives sponsor the Congressional Art Competition for high school students for their respective congressional districts.

“All high school students are encouraged to apply and express their artistic abilities in this fun, nationwide competition,” Guthrie said. “I would like to thank students, educators, and art judges for making last year’s competition a success, and I look forward to seeing the artworks from incredibly talented students in our communities from this year’s Congressional Art Competition.”

Artwork can be shipped to or dropped off at Congressman Guthrie’s District office at:
