The 2018 Daviess County Lions Club Fair was “definitely different” from years past, according to Joan Hayden, who serves as secretary of the Daviess County Lions Fair Board, but it was different in the best of ways. The family-friendly changes made by the fair committee paid off for the 8,500 people in attendance. Hayden said they sold a higher number of tickets than she’d seen in years.

Besides the beautiful weather, Hayden said the Monster Truck Show — a first for the county fair — was the highlight of the week. The stadium was packed with viewers who enjoyed watching the massive trucks, tractors and other vehicles plow through the dirt in a frenzy of bright colors, big wheels, and powerful engines.

“We did a lot of things different,” said Hayden. “We added a fireworks show, which got great feedback. We had inflatables for the kids. But the Monster Truck Show was a really huge hit.”
