For the first time, the Senior Community Center of Owensboro-Daviess County is hosting a Supper with Santa as a new fundraiser.
The event, which is 5:30 p.m. Friday at 1650 W. 2nd St., is open to the public and is $7 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Sponsored by Morrison Foods, Owensboro Health and Audubon Area Community Services, the event’s proceeds go back to the community center and its programs.
Dana Peveler, executive director for the center, said this is the first Supper with Santa event, and they are hoping it will be a hit with the community.
“Every kid there will go home with a gift,” she said. “It’s going to be a fun night for grandparents, parents and kids.”
Door prizes will also be available to win.
While Peveler said the event is “nothing big,” she is hoping a lot of people will come out and have fun being in each other’s company.
“It’ll be great for everyone to meet and have supper and help a good cause,” she said.
Peveler said the center does an event every month with Morrison, and while they host a lot of events for seniors, they decided to change it up and host a multi-generational event.
The senior community center serves more than 1,400 people a year. Every day they deliver roughly 165 meals to seniors and about 500 people come to the center weekly.
