WWII veteran to be keynote speaker at Gold Star Mothers annual luncheon

The Kentucky Department of the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. is hosting their annual meeting and Gold Star Luncheon in Owensboro this year on Saturday, April 6 at noon at the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum.

The guest of honor and keynote speaker is Mr. Hershel “Woody” Williams, a WWII Marine Veteran and Medal of Honor Recipient from the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Also in attendance will be BG Benjamin F. Adams III, KDVA Commissioner and Shelia Brookins, AFI National Guard Spouse of the Year 2018, along with remarks from Owensboro’s Mayor, Tom Watson.

Program highlights include a candle lighting ceremony for Kentucky’s fallen, symbolic tributes to remember the military suicide crisis, and a time of remembrance for the 75th Anniversary of D-Day. Veterans will also be honored and recognized during the program.
