The Owensboro Convention Center is transforming into a shopper’s dream on Saturday. The bi-annual Girls Day Out event returns for its third year in Owensboro and everyone in the community is invited to attend.

The free event, which originally began in Bowling Green, takes place twice a year — in the spring and fall.

From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. the convention center will be filled with more than 75 vendors who are ready to share their good and services with hundreds of customers.

Tina Comer, coordinator of Girls Day Out, said there will be a variety of vendors including handcrafted items such as jewelry, soap, candles, home decor and much more. More than 75 vendors will be in attendance.

“We also will have some direct sales vendor with items like makeup, essential oils, items for the home and lots more,” she said. “We will give away door prizes all day and also have swag bags that will be given to the first 100 adult women in line that morning.”

Comer said the event is so fun and encourages people of all ages to come check it out.

“You can shop for many different items under one roof,” she said. “I see ladies making plans with their girlfriends on Facebook to make a day of it. They come, do some shopping, sample some products, then go have lunch somewhere. The cafe right there in the convention center makes a great place to have lunch.”

While the event is called Girls Day Out, men are invited to join in the shopping as well.

“Men are welcome to come to shop for the ladies in their life or they can bring their wife, girlfriend, mother or daughter and treat her to a nice day out,” Comer said.
