Friday After 5 released their official season reveal for the 2019 season on Wednesday. With many new events being implemented and a lineup of more than 65 bands performing at six different venues for Friday After 5’s 23rd season, Interim Executive Director Kirk Kirkpatrick believes Friday After 5 will provide a wider array of enjoyment for those who attend.

The award-winning, free music festival will kick off its 2019 season on May 17 and run for 16 weeks through Labor Day weekend on Aug. 30. As always, Friday After 5 will begin at 5 p.m. and finish up around midnight.

Aside from the weekly special-themed nights, food trucks and costumed characters for children that will be offered, Kirkpatrick said this season will feature a brand new lineup of contemporary christian bands that will perform as part of the Glenn’s Worship on the Water series.

As part of the expansion for the Glenn’s Worship on the Water series, three new Worship on the Water shows will be included. Glenn’s Family Services will sponsor seven free series concerts in Cannon Hall. Moreover, Glenn’s will be sponsoring a Movie Night at the Museum series in the Bluegrass Center’s Woodward Theatre.

“We wanted to take part in the fun at Friday After 5 and have planned five Fridays of free, family-friendly movies at the Hall of Fame,” said Carly Smith, marketing director for the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum.

Kirkpatrick said he was excited to form a partnership with the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum for this year’s season. Aside from hosting movie nights, the museum will be offering discounts on Hall of Fame merchandise during each Friday After 5 event.

“We certainly want them to join the party, if you will,” Kirkpatrick said.

Kirkpatrick will be replacing former Friday After 5 Executive Director Teresa Thomas this season as Thomas stepped down for health-related reasons. However, Kirkpatrick said he’s excited to get started and has high hopes for the upcoming season.

“This is the biggest budget we’ve ever had — I think it’s going to be a successful season,” Kirkpatrick said.
