The free outdoor concert series, Live on the Banks, returns Saturday. The 20-week series will showcase a variety of music groups from across the region, playing to concert goers on the riverfront.

Live on the Banks will feature music every Saturday night from May 18 through September 28 at the Overlook Stage as well as the Allen Street Gazebo in Smothers Park from 7-9 p.m.

“We are excited to kick off another new season of Live on the Banks,” said Tim Ross, director of public events for the City of Owensboro. “Each year we get more and more comments from people outside of Owensboro that enjoy coming to our riverfront on Saturday evenings for a great casual atmosphere with live music.”

Continuing in 2019 is the second location at the Allen Street Gazebo in Smothers Park. Along with the main stage, additional artists will play at the Allen Street Gazebo every Saturday night.

“We have a great mix of music again this season on two different stages and we look forward to another great year,” Ross said.

The City of Owensboro decided to discontinue their Bluegrass on the Banks concert series, which ran on Thursdays during the same months as Live on the Banks. The opening of the Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame and Museum was a major factor in that decision, Ross said.

A lineup of the bands performing each week can be found on the Live on the Banks Facebook page.
