The Putt N Pub Crawl will return to downtown Owensboro on June 15 in support of Building Stronger Families. Board member Courtney VonGunten is organizing the event as a fundraiser for the nonprofit.

“Every parent wants to be the best and give their best to their children,” she said. “Sometimes though, we just need a little extra help and guidance to make that happen. Building Stronger Families does just that.”

VonGunten explained that Building Stronger Families teaches effective communication, discipline and nurturing skills.

“When parents lay down at night, they know they are doing the best they possibly can for their children,” she said.

VonGunten attended the Putt N Pub Crawl last year when a friend organized the inaugural event to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Seeing that over 100 people participated last year, VonGunten wanted to continue the event’s success.

The Putt N Pub Crawl will partner with 10 downtown business that will offer a self-designed putt putt hole. Food and drink specials will be offered along the course, which VonGunten said will be made more appealing with Owensboro’s recent open container policy.

Teams rotate between holes and the team with the lowest score will win prizes. There will also be prizes awarded for best golf attire voted on by fellow golfers. Participants are free to bring their own putters and balls, but ones will be provided.

According to VonGunten, a shotgun start at Lure Seafood and Grille will begin at 12 p.m. Groups of four are suggested, but VonGunten said her volunteers can help pair teams to make foursomes. Teams will rotate from hole to hole and a volunteer stationed at each hole will keep official score on the team’s scorecard. At the end of the event, an after party will be hosted at Bar Louie to announce winners and socialize.

Golfers must be 21 or over to participate. The cost is $20 per person. Those interested may register here.

The ten participating businesses include: Bar Louie, Bella Regazza, Burger Theory, Byron and Barclay , City Walk, Fetta Specialty Pizza, Lure Seafood and Grille,  Simply Chic, The Creme and the RiverPark Center.
