Science Museum to celebrate 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 in fundraising event

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission Lunar landing, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will host a family-oriented fundraising event on July 20.

In honor of the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Mission Lunar landing, the Owensboro Museum of Science and History will host a family-oriented fundraising event on July 20.

According to a media release from the museum, NASA and Atmos Energy are sponsoring the event, which will include highly-interactive displays, including 11 NASA – NISE hands-on space activity stations, a moonwalk game, rock digs, scavenger hunts, face painting, moon rock painting, space characters, photo stations and moon food lunch for purchase.

The Owensboro Community & Technical College award-winning NASA Rover teams will also be on site with their vehicles for meet and greets.

The cost is $3 per person for members and $5 per person for non-members. Children 2 and under are free. All proceeds from the event will support new and innovative programming at the museum.

“Bring the whole family, learn about one of our nation’s greatest accomplishments and help your museum bring more programming with one trip to 2nd Street,” the release read.
