Two Rivers Buddy Ball is hosting a Buddy Ball Glow Party Friday, June 7 at 6 p.m. at the Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds. Regardless of the weather, the event will be held inside.

The glow party is open to all persons with special needs and glow sticks and accessories will be provided.

Food will be served prior to the party and attendees are invited to camp out overnight in the fairground building. Those staying will enjoy a campfire and will need to bring a sleeping bag, cot or lawn chair.

The combined event came about because Buddy Ball founder Billy Shain said when the kids he works with say they want to try something, he is at a point where he can’t say no.

During the dance party, there will also be board games available, but Shain said that everyone seems really excited to wear clothes that glow and to decorate themselves with highlighters. In fact, they have already tested out the lights to see what will glow and what won’t.

On Saturday morning, June 8, the participants will travel together from the fairgrounds to the Owensboro Autism Network’s Autism Awareness Walk presented by Jagoe Homes. The walk begins at 9 a.m. at the Apollo High School track.

The glow party and campout are free, but the Buddy Ball organization would like those that are interested to sign up through their Facebook page so they know how many people will be attending both events. A ticket limit of 200 has been set.

The Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds are located at 6191 Ky-54 in Philpot.
