With bourbon interest continuing to grow throughout Kentucky and the Owensboro-Daviess County area, it should come as no surprise that the Owensboro Convention Center added a bourbon-themed meal to their already popular dinner and wine pairing event.

The Convention Center’s 21st Cork & Cuisine event, the Bourbon and Barrel experience, will be held Thursday, August 1 at 6 p.m. and will offer guests “five courses of a bourbon-inspired menu perfectly paired with barrel-aged wines and spirits.”

While other popular themed dinners such as Mardi Gras, Cinco de Mayo and Derby, have attracted full to sold-out crowds, Convention Center General Manager Laura Alexander said over a week prior to the event that Bourbon and Barrel had been the most popular event thus far.

“We are officially sold out,” Alexander said. “We normally like to keep it intimate and cap the attendance at 120, but decided to open up a few more tables and have already sold out of them. This is the largest Cork & Cuisine since its inception in 2014.”

Tickets to the 21 and over event, sponsored by Southern Glazer’s Wine & Spirits of Kentucky, Creation Gardens, and Ivy Trellis, sold for $65.25 per person or two for $115, including all wines and spirits.

There will be special giveaways throughout the evening, including a bottle of each of the barrel-aged wines, bourbons and spirits featured throughout the dinner.

“I think the bourbon theme is definitely enticing to this region as we are seeing a lot of newcomers to this event as well as our loyal supporters of Cork & Cuisine,” Alexander said.
