Troy Quinn and the Owensboro Symphony are preparing for the 32nd annual Concert on the Lawn scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, on the front lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College.

While the concert begins at 7 p.m., families are encouraged to arrive at 5:30 p.m. for fun and activities. This free community event is made possible each year by US BANK.

“Although the event is free to attend, the Symphony will offer seating options for those who would rather come and enjoy the performance without having to pack up their chairs, tables and dinners.” said the Symphony’s General Manager, Gwyn Payne.

Table, chairs and dinner for eight people can be reserved for $275. Also available are reservations for a table and eight chairs for $125.  Individual meals (no seating) can be reserved for $20 a person. The meal will include bourbon-glazed pork tenderloin, home-style vegetables, fruit cobblers and tea/lemonade. Buffet meals will not be sold on the night of the event – they must be purchased in advance by calling the Symphony at 270-684-0661, extension 111. Reservations must be made prior to Aug. 12.

“Works from great moments in sports promise to have you dancing on the lawn,” said Troy Quinn. “I hope to look out and see some real creative tables reflecting the theme – A Salute to Sports. We will be playing some of the best in sports music as the orchestra performs all the favorites from the National Anthem to Chariots of Fire, themes from the NFL and NBA and more.”

Those who reserve tables often participate in the table decorating contest, decorating their tables to reflect the theme of the musical program. A table contest winner will be chosen to receive a gift basket from the Symphony.
