The Ursuline Sisters of Mount Saint Joseph’s Hospitality and Communication Relation Specialist Janie Walther were looking for a new, signature event to be held at the Mount.

As the coordinator of Life Spring, a cancer support group at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital for several years, Walther wanted a celebration event for cancer survivors and those whose loved ones have been affected by cancer.

During her research, a friend of hers told her about the Sterling Service Tea Ministry, a program that began in 2004 to offer happiness and hope at Christ Church United Methodist Church in Louisville.

“Tea parties are very big right now,” Walther said of their premiere event, Tea Time at the Mount.

The event will be held Aug.13 at 11:30 a.m. and is expected to attract around 50 guests.

Pam Simon, a cancer survivor and “tea expert,” will speak at the event.

The event’s release stated that guests will “come together to discover God’s presence and unconditional love in our struggles.”

The cost of the event is $12 and reservations are required by calling 270-229-0206 or emailing Mount Saint Joseph.

Mount Saint Joseph is located at 8001 Cummings Road, Maple Mount, Ky.
