The Owensboro Convention Center is hosting the third annual Cheers on the Pier event Saturday, where more than 1,000 people are expected to attend. Officials said the craft beer festival has been a success in Owensboro since the first event was held in 2017.

“We’ll have between 30 and 40 breweries and about 75-80 different beers available,” said organizer Trevor Cravens. “Wine will be available from Oliver Winery and O.Z. Tyler will be doing a special cocktail sample as well.”

Cravens said he runs a lot of different beer festivals in different places, but that Cheers on the Pier is one of his favorites to organize and see come to fruition each year.

“When we came to Owensboro, there wasn’t another craft beer tasting event going on at the time,” he said. “It was a new experience for people, and now it’s turned into a big social event.”

Owensboro’s Cheers on the Pier has a laid-back vibe that makes it unique from other beer festivals, Cravens said.

“The setting is just awesome–when you have a combination of indoor and outdoor space, it’s a great thing,” he said.

Cheers on the Pier will be partnering with the Boys & Girls Club and part of the ticket sales will go toward the local nonprofit. A wine and bourbon charitable pool will be a new addition to this year’s festival, where customers can pay $20 to receive a bottle of liquor. Everyone receives a bottle, Cravens said, but the value of that bottle could be priced anywhere from $10 to $100 dollars. That money will also go toward the Boys & Girls Club.

The Mighty Pines, a band out of St. Louis, will play this year’s event.

Tickets for the event are $40 and are available at owensborotickets.com, or can be found by clicking here. Discounted tickets can be purchased for $35 at J’s Liquor, located at 2216 New Hartford Road.

The event will run from 3-7 p.m. on Saturday. An after-party will be held afterward at Bar Louie.
