The City of Owensboro announced its first-ever Hot Chocolate Hop event, which will take place at various downtown businesses from 3-8 p.m. Saturday.

Various local restaurants, bars, and venues will be creating specialty hot chocolate drinks to celebrate the holidays. Some are complimentary, while others will sell for up to $5 each.

Many of the businesses are featuring adult-only beverages that include alcohol, but non-alcoholic options will also be available.

Second Street will be closed from Daviess Street to Saint Ann Street to allow for additional outdoor dining space. The event will feature themed ice carvings from local chef Jeremy Mattingly as well as live instrumental performances.

“We had planned several new holiday events for this year,” said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events for the City of Owensboro. “Unfortunately, most of those were not able to happen. However, this event still allows the downtown businesses to bring a fun holiday event to the community while still staying safe and socially distanced. It is now more important than ever to support our local restaurants and bars.”

A complete list of participating businesses will be announced this week on the City of Owensboro’s Facebook page.
