There has been a change in the lineup for the 2021 Owensboro Air Show set for Aug. 13 – 15, though the U.S. Navy Blue Angels Demonstration Team will still be headlining the event.

The United States Air Force F-16 Viper Demo Team will be replacing the USAF F-35 Lightning Demo Team, the City of Owensboro announced Thursday.

The Lockheed-Martin F-16C Fighting Falcon is a compact, multi-role fighter aircraft. It is highly maneuverable and has proven itself in more than 30 years of operations including air-to-air combat and air-to-surface attack.

“We are obviously disappointed that the F-35 Lighting Demo Team will not be performing in Owensboro this year, but are thrilled at the same time that the Viper Demo Team is returning,” said Public Events Director Tim Ross.  “The Viper Demo Team has been a fan-favorite several times in Owensboro and showcases an icon in Air Force aviation in the same show that will also feature the iconic F-18 Super Hornet that the Navy Blue Angels will be flying.”

To celebrate their 75th show season as a demonstration team, the Blue Angels will incorporate the C-130J Super Hercules (a transport aircraft) and F/A-18E Super Hornet (a tactical fighter jet).

The rest of the 2021 performer lineup is scheduled to be announced early next month.

Reserved seating tickets at the Owensboro Convention Center are also on sale for the 2021 Owensboro Air Show. Spectators wanting to reserve their space along the riverfront at show center have several ticket options to choose from.
