The City of Whitesville has announced the 13th Annual Fireworks in the Park celebration will take place June 25. They also released information on the newly conceived Food Truck Feast where they will play host to a different food truck each Thursday in June.

The fireworks show will cap off a celebration that also features live music and an assortment of food options. The food and music will begin at 5 p.m. with the fireworks beginning at dusk.

“I’m really excited about our fireworks show,” said Whitesville Mayor Patsy Mayfield. “We didn’t get to have it last year and I think people are excited and ready to get out and enjoy themselves.”

Trinity High School, St. Mary of the Woods School, and Whitesville Elementary School will have food booths to generate funds for their schools. The event will also feature several bounce houses and other entertainment booths for the entire family.

“I think people really like our show because they can get a little closer to the fireworks; the ground effects really add to the show,” Mayfield said.

The Whitesville Community Park will play host to the first annual Food Truck Feast sponsored by the Whitesville Historical Society. Every Thursday in June from 4-7 p.m., a different food truck will be present.

Slick Back Barbeque out of Rosine will kick off the feast on June 3 serving up a wide array of barbecue and sandwich options. Kona Ice out of Evansville will follow them on June 10.

Aloha Express from Beaver Dam and Burrito Express out of Henderson will round out the event on June 17 and June 24, respectively. Aloha offers an elevated assortment of carnival fare while Burrito Express will provide fresh and authentic Mexican cuisine.

Money raised from the feast will aid in the remodel of the historic Stinnett House in Whitesville.

“We are hoping all of this works out well for us,” Mayfield said. “Everyone is really excited about all of the events and the food trucks.”

Other upcoming events at the Whitesville Community Park include a tractor show slated for Sept. 11 and a car show on Oct. 16.

St. Mary of the Woods Church will host their annual spring picnic that features a variety of barbecue options and booths this Sunday.
