City of Owensboro announces road closures for Kids Bike-Run on July 31

The City of Owensboro has announced several road closures as they prepare for the 5th annual Owensboro Parent Magazine Kids Bike-Run (typically a triathlon) on July 31 beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Residents should be aware that streets will be closed around the Owensboro Health Healthpark the morning of the race.

Ford Avenue between Lexington Avenue and S. Griffith Avenue, as well as Mayfair Avenue between Ford Avenue and Booth Avenue, will be closed from 7 a.m. until approximately 10:30 a.m.

Major streets impacted will be Ford Avenue, Booth Avenue, S. Griffith Avenue, Scherm Road, and College Drive, among others.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes, avoid areas along the race course, allow for extra driving time, and proceed with caution on streets near the race course.

Children are split into appropriate age groups, and will complete the following distances at the below start times:

  • Age 4-6: Bike .5 miles, Run .2 miles; 7:30 a.m.
  • Age 7-8: Bike 2.43 miles, Run .53 miles; 8 a.m.
  • Age 9-10: Bike 2.43 miles, Run 1.02 mile; 8:45 a.m.
  • Age 11-14: Bike 3.66 miles, Run 1.02 mile; 9:30 a.m.

Children of all abilities are welcome to participate, and families are encouraged to spectate and cheer.
