The City of Owensboro will have four different locations from which they are launching fireworks on Sunday — including a return to the riverfront display — after the success of last year’s multi-site show.

The celebration will start at Smothers Park along the riverfront at 5 p.m. During the show, there will be live music by Alonzo Pennington and The Downtown Band at 7 p.m.

At 9:15 p.m. the fireworks show will begin launching from a barge on the Ohio River.

While the downtown show is occurring, three additional locations will also launch in sync with the riverfront show: Centre Court/Shifley Park, Owensboro Sportscenter/Moreland Park, and Owensboro Warehouse Leasing/former GE plant.

Viewers can tune in to 92.5 FM WBKR to listen to the soundtrack with which the fireworks are choreographed.

For the safety of the public and the pyrotechnic professionals, the secure fireworks launch sites throughout the city will not be open to the public. People attempting to watch from the launch sites will cause the fireworks at that location to be halted.
