OMG!Con hosting Halloween-themed mini-con

After having to go virtual again this summer, OMG!Con is returning for Halloween weekend for an event are describing as a mini-con. The HallOMGween event is taking place Oct. 30-31 at the Convention Center and will feature a twist.

While the convention is still targeted at comic book and anime fans, there will be Halloween theme in all aspects of the event.

They will be closing off Elm Street for a period of time to host a Nightmare on Elm Street Parade. There will also be a Hocus Pocus-themed ball on Saturday night.

OMG!Con is also partnering with Blood Moon Pictures, a movie company started by Owensboro natives PJ Starks and Eric Huskisson. The two will be showing their new film 13 Slays till X-Mas and will answer questions about the film.

Erin Shannon, event manager for OMG!Con, said they are working with Brew Bridge this year. The brewery’s new trolley will make rounds from the Towneplace Suites to the Owensboro Convention Center. Brew Bridge will also be making special cocktails for the weekend.

The shortened weekend is expected to have several businesses from across the city to help provide an enjoyable time for the guests.

Shannon said they plan to recommend masks to help all who are not able to provide proof of vaccination.
