Friday After 5 is “moving west” this summer, including moving their main concert stage from the RiverPark Center to the Holiday Inn and having stages closer together. The organization has announced their initial plans for the 26th season — with the theme “Picture This” — including new stages, special events, and more.

FA5 will again be a free 16-week community music festival with music and events the entire family can enjoy. Officials said this year they are striving to create a relaxed and entertaining family friendly season that is located in a central setting.

“We are happy to see the direction Friday After 5 has taken over the last year,” said Chad Day, President/Chairman of FA5.

This year, the street fair will start at Frederica Street, proceeding along Veterans Boulevard and curving at Locust Street (located on the west side of the Convention Center).

The Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame & Museum will be home to select special family events; the Romain Overlook stage (the pavilion on the riverfront near the VFW) will once again provide music; Lure Seafood & Grille will offer food and entertainment; the Ruoff Party Stage at the Convention Center returns; and the new main concert stage will be the Jagoe Homes Riverfront stage at Holiday Inn.

There are also special nights and concerts planned that will be held at the Mitch McConnell Plaza.

“We are excited about the upcoming 2022 season of Friday After 5,” said Tim Ross, Director of Public Events for the City of Owensboro. “The FA5 committee continues to evolve and set the bar for live entertainment to start the weekend for cities all over the country and we look forward to another outstanding year.”

Kicking off this season will be the return of the Friday After 5 – 5K for runners and walkers in partnership with the track & field department at Brescia University.

The season will include a Beatles Rock Show, a Nicky Hayden Foundation night, a night with the award-winning band The Motels, a night to honor First Responders and Supporting Heroes, and parades with visiting baseball and softball tournament youth.
