Willie Robertson, best known for his appearance on the TV series Duck Dynasty, will be coming to Owensboro on Feb. 26 at Legacy Church.

“We are having a night of outreach on that Saturday night as a fundraiser to help with our community outreach programs,” Melissa Philips of Legacy Church said. “The dinner will be catered by Moonlite and then he (Willie Robertson) will be with us on Sunday as well.”

Tickets for Saturday night are available for purchase , with the opportunity to secure preferred seating up front, participate in a meet and greet, or get a photo with Robertson.

“So far, we have got a tremendous result of people excited about it,” Phillips said.

Legacy’s outreach coordinator Sydney Garrett is thrilled to have Robertson come to Owensboro.

“Besides experiencing the sense of humor that we have all grown to love and appreciate from Willie Robertson and his family, we are most excited about hearing what God is doing through Willie and his outreach ministry,” Garrett said. “Being able to learn from someone who clearly has the favor of God in his life will be beneficial for our whole community.”

Robertson — the author, news contributor, and CEO of the company Duck Commander — came to be a well-known TV personality when the A&E hit show Duck Dynasty aired from 2012-2017.  But event planners call Robertson more than a TV personality.

“He is a devoted father and man of God who continually serves his community. We are hopeful that this will bring inspiration to our community to be who God has called them to be, a light to the world for Him, and even bring people who don’t know Jesus, to Him,” Garrett said.

Inviting Robertson to Owensboro is something the church is honored to do, recognizing that the opportunity is a win-win for the church and community.

“We are starting an outreach ministry at Legacy and wanted to host a banquet to raise money in order to serve our community in different ways,” Phillips said.

After reaching out on a whim, Phillips said they were pleased that Robertson agreed to come.

“Pastor Jeff (Phillips) had a connection with another pastor from the church Willie attends and serves at in Louisiana. He reached out hopeful, but with no expectations that he would actually come to Owensboro to speak. We’re glad that he said yes,” Melissa Philips said.

According to their ticket page, this event is being used to inspire the people of Owensboro to be outreach-minded. All proceeds will be used to directly serve the community.

“The banquet will give our community a chance to get up close and personal, and Willie will also be speaking the next day at both Sunday services at 9 and 11. We realize that people have their own church to attend which is why we decided to offer a fundraiser banquet on Saturday,” Phillips said.
