Two vendors at Fear Expo set up their booths Wednesday afternoon

Fear Expo, a trade show for haunted attraction owners and vendors, returns to Owensboro this weekend. Event co-owner Doug Shelden said the Convention Center will be filled with booths and exhibits showcasing the newest and best in haunted products — and this year the public will be able to attend.

The expo begins today, but Thursday and Friday events are only open to exhibitors and VIPs of the industry. The public can take in the experience from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday.

Shelden said vendors will be open to selling items that could go along with Halloween costumes or items for horror fanatics to collect.

“The public can come in and they can buy stuff. We’ve got all kinds of cool knickknacks and stuff that people are just gonna absolutely love,” he said.

This is the second year that Fear Expo has come to Owensboro. Shelden has enjoyed his time so much that he is giving the city a new nickname: Halloweentown USA.

“Last year was just awesome. We absolutely love the community,” he said. “Owensboro really just welcomed us.”
