Bart Darrell, Vice President of Commonwealth West Innovation Center and President Emeritus Kentucky Wesleyan College, will be the featured guest speaker at Thursday’s Rooster Booster event.

The program begins at 7:30 a.m. at the Owensboro Convention Center (501 West Second Street) and is sponsored by Western Kentucky University Owensboro. Register to attend here or call the Chamber office at 270-926-1860.

The cost to attend Rooster Booster is $15 for Chamber members with reservations, $20 for members with no reservations, and $25 for non-members. Reservations include breakfast, which will be served buffet style at the beginning of the event.

Darrell was raised in Owensboro and graduated from Daviess County High School. He earned a bachelor of arts in business management from Wesleyan and a juris doctor from the University of Louisville Louis D. Brandeis School of Law.

A former Wesleyan trustee, Darrell became the 34th president of KWC in September 2014 after serving his alma mater as vice president of external services for 11 months. He was president until May 2019. Darrell also practices law as a partner at Foreman Watson Holtrey, LLP.

Darrell was named VP of the Innovation Center in 2022. It will offer classes and programs in a wide range of healthcare career fields, including nursing, respiratory, radiology, behavioral health, and community health. The facility will provide exciting, hands-on learning experiences and simulate “real-world” healthcare environments, such as an operating room or a patient exam room. It will be located at the current Owensboro Health Business Center on Frederica Street.
