Civil War reenactment

Daviess County Public Library’s Kentucky Room is hosting a Civil War camp reenactment this Saturday.

The second annual event will be staged at the Yellow Creek Park Pioneer Village from 12-4 p.m. on Saturday. The village buildings will be open for touring while reenactors give insight on the Civil War period. The scene will be a campground showcasing what life was like for soldiers in the Civil War.

Kentucky Room employee Robert Reeves says that they will have representatives for both the Confederacy and the Union. Visitors will be able to ask the actors questions about the war.

“We hope to give people a little more than last year,” Reeves said. “We’re going to pull everything closer this year.”

There will even be a cannon fired at every hour.

“I hope it’s a good learning experience,” reenactor James Huddleston said. “Hopefully we portray a pretty good camp.”

They will also have food trucks and presenters at the event.
