Daviess County High School drama department will host its 19th summer drama camp June 24 – 28. Theatre department director Karen Feldhaus, along with current DCHS students and alumni, will work with participants on acting skills, technical elements and acting in a play, which will be performed for the families of the actors at noon on June 28.

All students who are entering first through ninth grade are invited to the camp and the groups will be grade level.

Each participant will receive a T-shirt, daily snack and daily prizes.

The camp runs from 8 a.m. to noon and will be held in the DCHS auditorium.

Feldhaus said the money raised from the camp funds the theatre program, since they do not receive money from the district.

“This camp is a great way to get the necessary funds to stage a fall production,” Felhaus said. “But I never started the camp to make money. If I was doing that I would be charging much more.”

Feldhaus said the camp is a great way to build relationships with future DCHS thespians and it also provides an opportunity for current DCHS thespians to teach and grow in their art form.

“I love having a chance to work with elementary and middle school students since I see teenagers every day,” Feldhaus said.

The cost is $75. Checks should be made payable to DCHS. Registration is available online by calling 270-302-5814, or emailing [email protected]. Pre-registration is preferred, but registration will be taken at the door on June 24.
