Owensboro Dance Theatre has announced plans for their next season, but first they’ll wrap up season 38 with a final performance in August.
ODT will bring its current season to a close Aug. 1-2 as they perform In Concert featuring The Circle of Life … A Lion’s Tale sponsored by U.S. Bank.
After having to postpone the performance due to COVID-19, ODT is pleased to see last season come full circle. This concert is not included in the concert series purchase for 2020-2021.
The German American Bank Nutcracker will kick off the 2020-2021 season Dec. 5 with school showings on Dec. 4.
ODT’s Nutcracker has been delighting audiences for years, becoming a staple for so many during the holiday season. The Nutcracker offers something for everyone, showcasing the skills of Owensboro Dance Theatre’s Company, five professional dancers and more than 130 community members.
ODT will also hold its 3rd annual Snowball Daddy Daughter Dance Dec. 4. Early reservations can be made for $40 per couple and $10 for each additional child until Oct. 16. All reservations after Oct. 16 will be $50 per couple. This event is for fathers or other male role models. To make a reservation contact ODT at 270-684-9580.
For the third time, Owensboro Dance Theatre will have it’s Dance Battle Extravaganza featuring Giordano Dance Chicago presented by Southern Star Central Gas Pipeline on Feb. 20, 2021.
The first act will be a showcase of Giordano Dance Chicago, 57 years running. GDC is America’s original jazz dance company and receives critical and audience acclaim worldwide.
The second act will be an amusing and friendly dance battle fundraiser between tristate community groups. Each group will battle to win a grand prize of $1,000. This year Dance Battle Extravaganza will have judges for all rounds and then the audience will vote for the grand prize. Each round winner will win $100. There will also be an online community favorite award for $500.
Owensboro Dance Theatre’s season will close with In Concert featuring The Little Mermaid…Ariel’s Return, on March 20, 2021, with school showings on March 21.
In Concert’s Act I will feature a variety of dance styles performed by ODT company members. Act II will feature The Little Mermaid…Ariel’s Return.
On March 21, 2021, ODT will host the fundraiser “Party Under the Sea,” at the RiverPark Center from 5:30-8:30 p.m. The night will include an all-inclusive event with dinner, desert, photos, games, a dance contest, a costume contest, and more.
