This Halloween season, Theatre Workshop of Owensboro is bringing a classic American ghost story to life with six performances.

“The Haunting of Hill House” is a tale of a deserted mansion, rumors of supernatural occurrences, noises in the dark, doors that rattle by themselves, parapsychology investigators, and “things that go bump in the night.”

Performances are Oct. 23, 24, 30, and 31 at 7:30 .m., as well as Oct. 25 and Nov. 1 at 2 p.m. Performances will be held at the Owensboro Convention Center.

According to TWO, “The Haunting of Hill House” is a “chilling and mystifying story of mounting terror in which a small group of psychically receptive people are brought together in Hill House, a brooding, mid-Victorian mansion known as a place of evil and contained ill will.”

The novel by the same title was written by American Shirley Jackson in 1959 and became a best-seller. The novel was first adapted to the stage by F. Andrew Leslie in 1964 and since then, the stage play has been performed around the world innumerable times. The novel has also been adapted for movies twice and for TV once.

TWO’s production is directed by Jordan Blake. The cast is made up of TWO veterans and newcomers.

Brooklyn Thompson, Aryanne Brailsford, Gerrimy Keiffer, Jeremy Brailsford, Nicole Maurer, Bryan McGlothlin, and Dorothy Sibrel fill out the principal parts. Tina Dant-Stallings, Isaac Adkins, Bodie Moore, Sophia Baxter, Anna Baxter, Nelly Baxter, Lily Howard, Emma Wright, Madison Hays, Ella Fogle, and Reagan Stallings complete the ensemble.

For the first time, TWO will be working with the Owensboro Convention Center for the production of a play.

“The Haunting of Hill House” will be presented at the Owensboro Convention Center.  The larger venue will allow more people to attend, while also allowing for social distancing. Masks will be required by all audience members.
