The Owensboro Symphony is going virtual for their annual holiday concert, which will include selections from “The Nutcracker,” “The Grinch,” and more. The program — named “Safe at Home for the Holidays” — will be broadcast several times during the month of December on multiple platforms.

The premier will be aired at 7 p.m. Dec. 12 on KET as well as WFIE streaming stations. The program will also be available on the Owensboro Symphony YouTube channel.

Additional broadcasts will air at 12:30 p.m. Dec. 20 on KET and 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 on KET2.

This concert will feature Owensboro Symphony’s Troy Quinn and special guest vocalist Michael Preacely.

“We are excited to be able to bring the Symphony into your home and celebrate the most wonderful time of the year, even though we can’t be together in person.” said Troy Quinn, Music Director and Conductor.

The Symphony typically performs the annual concert at the RiverPark Center for a live audience, but this year packaged it into a holiday special that can be enjoyed from home.

“As we navigate these uncertain times, we have been tasked to become more innovative than ever,” said Gwyn Payne, CEO of the Owensboro Symphony.  “We are thrilled to partner with KET to broadcast this program and are very fortunate to have the support of our sponsors and this community who share a strong passion for the arts.”

Funding for this program is made possible by Aleris with additional support from Riley and John Hess, Atmos Energy, Owensboro Messenger-Inquirer, the City of Owensboro, Daviess County Fiscal Court, and the Kentucky Arts Council.
