Owensboro Catholic High School senior Sam Hines was recently selected to the KMEA All-State Band.

Hines is First Chair Flute in the Concert Band, and she is also a member of the OCHS Pep Band, Jazz Band, Winter Percussion and Marching Band.

Her band directors are Ed and Katie Hauser and she studies flute privately with Paula Humphreys.

“We are very proud of Sam and all of her accomplishments,” Ed Hauser said. “Sam is not only a great flute player, but an excellent role model in our band program. She is dedicated and has very high standards for both her academics and musicianship. Making All-State Band is one of the highest accomplishments for a band student and we are thrilled that Sam will represent Owensboro Catholic at All-State.”

Hines has been a member of the KMEA All-District Band for several years and has participated in the Western Kentucky University Honors Band. She is also a member of the Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra.

Sam is the daughter of Jim and Amy Hines.
