The Apollo High School Thespian Society has teamed up with Theatre Workshop of Owensboro to produce “Everything Seems Like Maybe,” a virtual presentation that was written by high school students during the COVID-19 shutdown. The script was curated, adapted and edited by Sandy Rustin.

The cast includes AHS theatre students in grades 9-12, as well as dual credit and Virtual Academy students.

The show description says: “The voices of teenagers take the spotlight in this series of timely monologues about the experience of sheltering in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the written work of real high school students and written especially for performance on video-conference platforms, ‘Everything Seems Like Maybe’ celebrates and validates the thoughts of young people during a surreal and unprecedented time; whether they’re missing a crush, critiquing the society in which they live, or trying to imagine what could be next.”

Tickets to the virtual presentation are $10 each and may be purchased online at the TWO website at here. Tickets may also be purchased by calling the box office at 270-683-5333 weekdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Purchasers will provide an email address to receive a link to view the presentation online. The program will be streamed at 7 p.m. March 13 and 20; and 2 p.m. March 14 and 21.

A video trailer for the presentation is available at here.

AHS theatre director April Berry said “Everything Seems Like Maybe” shares the thoughts and concerns of high school students during a very difficult and isolating time.

“The first online performance date, March 13, marks the one-year anniversary of the last in-person date for our students before our school district officially went virtual due to the pandemic,” Berry said. “This will be the first Apollo Theatre performance of the 2020-2021 school year. We truly appreciate the assistance we have received from Theatre Workshop of Owensboro as we navigate the world of virtual performances. This is a powerful performance that spotlights the resilience of teenagers as they explore an unprecedented experience in their lives and the world.”

The performance is sponsored by Rose Realty with support by a grant from Owensboro Health.
