A unique youth choir called The Sunday Edition — featuring young singers from Daviess and surrounding counties — formed during the pandemic and offers a unique experience.

This choir comprises nearly 50 singers ranging in age from 5 to 25 who come from Ohio, McClean, Hancock, and Daviess counties. They meet weekly at Christ Community Church on Center Street in Owensboro.

This choir does not follow the typical choral format where each singer is given sheet music to follow, but rather relies primarily on ear training that promotes developing everyone’s unique musical talent including harmony and leadership.

Taking a “come when you can” format eased attendance requirements, especially during the past few months through the pandemic and now with so many other extracurricular activities opening back up.

Taylor Burden, Worship Leader at Gospel Community Church, co-leads the choir with Cathy Mullins. The Sunday Edition is an offshoot of Worship on the Water, a community choir of which Mullins is a founding member.

Some members of The Sunday Edition performed at Friday After 5 last Friday. They choir will perform again at FA5 from 6-9 p.m. on July 23.
