The Owensboro Symphony’s 57th season will begin this October, and they recently released their lineup of concerts.

“I am truly excited about our 57th season and look forward to great performances with the talented musicians in our Symphony,” said Music Director Troy Quinn. “The season includes orchestral classics, film music, and popular music. I want to create programming that inspires and connects with a broad audience, holding true to our mission to create a meaningful, imaginative performance that enriches lives and creates memorable experiences for Owensboro and our surrounding communities.”

The 2022-2023 season will open with the annual Concert on the Lawn presented by U.S. Bank on Aug. 27 on the lawn of Kentucky Wesleyan College. This concert will feature soprano Lauren Jelencovich performing selections from The Little Mermaid and The Prince of Egypt. Jelencovich is generously sponsored by Riley and John Hess. Other highlights will include music from Mulan, Hook, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Aladdin

Troy Quinn and the Owensboro Symphony will perform on Oct. 22 with the Overture from Ruslan and Ludmila, Mikhail Glinka’s beloved orchestral showpiece. This concert will also feature Paul Hindemith’s Symphonic Metamorphosis on Themes by Carl Maria von Webber and Tchaikovsky’s supercharged Symphony No. 4.

The Owensboro Symphony’s Christmas tradition, Home for the Holidays, will be held on Dec. 10. It will include The Nutcracker, A Christmas Carol, and Sleigh Ride and will be joined by the Owensboro Symphony Chorus and the Owensboro Symphony Youth Orchestra.

On Jan. 28, 2023, the symphony will perform romantic movie scores with music from Gone with the Wind, Romeo and Juliet, and Casablanca. Violin soloist Sandy Cameron, who was declared “brilliant” by the Washington Post, will perform Danny Elfman’s Edward Scissorhands Suite, Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso, and more.

The Owensboro Symphony will present a Night at the Museum themed performance on March 4. They will perform music from Indiana Jones, The Mummy, Night at the Museum, Modest Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, and more.

World-renowned flutist Jim Walker will be featured on April 15. This concert will feature a wide array of musical selections from Mozart, to John Williams, Henry Mancini and finally William Walton’s The Wise Virgins Suite.
