Kerry Paape is a cardiothoracic surgeon with nearly 30 years of experience who joined Owensboro Health earlier this year.

Cardiac surgery deals with the heart, and thoracic surgery focuses on the lungs.

Paape who said she joined the OH staff after talking with OH COO Debbie Bostic for more than a year about the cardiac surgery program, said the hospital and the town are a perfect fit for her.

“I’m not a big-city gal,” she said. “ I like the short drive to work and I like knowing my patients.”
Paape said Owensboro is not only quality-driven, but excellence-driven too and that the place sold itself when she decided to take the job.

“The technology Owensboro Health offers is cutting edge,” she said. “There is everything here a surgeon like me could want.”

Paape is board-certified in thoracic and cardiovascular surgery by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery. Her academic credentials include a three-year fellowship at Northwestern University in Chicago after a residency at the University of Utah Medical Center, where she performed heart and lung transplant research. She earned her undergraduate degree from Baylor University and her medical degree at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Dallas.
