Idyllwood is Owensboro’s newest outdoor event venue. The Veach Road location boasts a picturesque outdoor space where guests can take in views of the lake, walk the property, or soak in a sunset from under the lights of an outdoor tent.
The venue also features the original red horse barn, and while it isn’t currently available for indoor use, it offers a background for event photos and provides an authentic “country” feel.
“We picture wedding ceremonies overlooking the lake at sunset and receptions or other events under the large event tent,” said co-owner Robert Williams. “The tent has the option to have the sides down with window views all around. Idyllwood gives the flexibility of a scenic blank slate for each host to set up and decorate how they envision.”
Idyllwood also welcomes corporate events, family reunions, small business events, showers, birthdays, or any other creative event idea. They also relish the opportunity to provide local photographers with a beautiful backdrop for their clients.
The owners enlisted the help of family and friends when brainstorming the perfect name. Williams said there were several amazing ideas, but they ultimately landed on Idyllwood.
“We love the meaning of the word idyll: an extremely happy, peaceful, or picturesque episode or scene,” he said. “It’s a spot-on description of what you see when you pull into the property. There are rolling hills, farmland, a lake, a rustic red barn, woods, and if you’re lucky, occasional wildlife.”
Jackie Sue Smith is assisting the venue with marketing and customer outreach. She said the convenient location paired with the country landscape makes Idyllwood unique.
“It’s amazing to have the remote country views and secluded feeling but be right in the middle of town,” Smith said. “We have affordable pricing for anyone who pictures their event on a farm or under the stars. We want everyone to be able to access this gorgeous space.”
