David Ruoff opened Ruoff Mortgage in Fort Wayne, Indiana, in 1984, growing the company drastically during his tenure. The company expanded to downtown Owensboro in July 2018 and has grown from three employees to 13 in just four years.

Ruoff’s son-in-law Mark Music joined the company in 2007 and took over as president and CEO in 2012. The organization now boasts 76 branches in five states and employs more than 900 people.

Ruoff Owensboro assists over 500 homeowners annually with satellite offices in Madisonville and Henderson. Vice president and branch manager Mark Gentry attributes much of their success to the local community. In 2020 and 2021, the Kentucky Housing Corporation recognized Ruoff as a top-producing lender.

“The Owensboro community is uniquely about giving back and helping others. We enjoy sponsoring and supporting so many local organizations,” Gentry said. “Being the Pier Stage sponsor for Friday After 5 for three years and a Community Sponsor for CASA of Ohio Valley are just some of the ways we give back.”

Gentry said they also sponsor events and donate to various local nonprofits throughout the year, with employees serving on numerous boards and committees.

The company consistently ranks among the top of the Inc. 5,000 list of the nation’s fastest-growing companies. With a wealth of products, the Scotsman Guide’s list of top mortgage lenders also recognizes Ruoff as a top-producing mortgage company.

“We offer a loan product for everyone: purchase, refinance, renovation, new construction, reverse mortgage, conventional, FHA, USDA, VA, doctor’s only, jumbo, and several state bond loan programs including but not limited to Kentucky Housing and Indiana Housing,” Gentry said.

“Ruoff is a mortgage company – that is what we do, and we do it very well,” he said. “We take pride in our ability to guide borrowers through the mortgage process seamlessly with a company average of application to clear to close time of 17 days.”
