With the start of school just weeks away, many families are gearing up to buy supplies, backpacks, and other materials. Here’s a list of giveaway/donation events we know about across Daviess County.

July 22 – AMVETS Free School Supplies Donations
2600 West 2nd Street
8 a.m.-12 p.m.
AMVETS will provide students and families with construction paper, pencils, pens, highlighters and more.
July 22 – Glenmore’s Back to School Bash
81 Church Street
1-5 p.m.
Glemore is partnering with Puzzle Pieces to give free supply bags for children. The event at St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Stanley will also have food trucks, vendors, carnival games, and an appearance by members of the Owensboro Fire Department.
July 28 – Beverly’s Hearty Slice Back to School Bash
Multiple locations
5 p.m.
Beverly’s Hearty Slice will be at Kendall-Perkins Park (1202 West 5th Street), Dugan Best (1003 Omega Street) and the Housing Authority of Owensboro (2161 East 19th Street), gifting 500 backpacks full of supplies and their signature pizza.
July 29 – Mount Calvary Baptist Church Back to School Bash
507 Plum Street
12-3 p.m.
Mount Calvary plans to give away a backpack and school supplies to families. They also are set to have entertainment, free food and more.
July 30 – Macedonia Baptist Church of Owensboro Back to School Bash
4839 Millers Road
5-6:30 p.m.
Macedonia Baptist Church is hosting its annual back-to-school bash with supplies for all grades. They ask that all who plan to attend pre-register here.
August 5 – Breaking the Cycle & Dugan Best Back-to-School Bash
1003 Omega Street
12-4 p.m.
In partnership with the Father’s House, Secret Sense and others, Breaking the Cycle returns for their third annual back-to-school bash, where they plan to gift free backpacks full of supplies and a free food basket for one family. In addition to the supplies, they will offer hair stylists, inflatables, face painting and a community kickball tournament. To sign up as a vendor or for the kickball tournament, click here.
