Shawn Smith created Ever Bin Clean six years ago as a unique business specializing in cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing trash toters. Smith previously owned a recycling company and initially wanted to feature the service as an add-on feature.
“We were trying to find a way to have an add-on service to keep the bins clean – that’s how I stumbled upon the industry,” Smith said. “I’ve since sold the recycling company, and business is good. We’re still trying to increase our availability.”
Smith fears that several in the community are unaware of the service.
The service is simple yet effective. Smith uses a specialized pressure washer with 180-degree water to remove unwanted particles from the receptacle. He follows the cleaning with a fresh-smelling deodorizer.
“The entire point of the process is to eliminate bacteria and germs, which cause the odor in the first place,” he said. “The unit we use is custom-mounted to a trailer, and we can also offer house-cleaning services.”
Smith was born in Owensboro, moved away for a bit, and returned to live over three decades ago. As of right now, he operates Ever Bin Clean on his own.
“Owensboro is a very open and welcoming community for sure,” Smith said. “Several customers have been with me since day one. Our customer retention is very high.
Ever Bin operates in Owensboro and Daviess County, Evansville, Newburgh, Henderson, and other neighboring communities.
The company offers monthly bin cleanings starting at $12.95 and one-time cleanings for $25.
