Strength Renewed celebrated its first anniversary of offering massage therapy and personal training to the tristate community this month. With over a decade of experience, Ulysses Johnson started the business in March and began accepting clients in August last year.

Johnson offers Swedish massages, deep tissue massages, trigger point massages, prenatal massages, and massage cupping. When it comes to personal training, he provides one-on-one and partner training, taking a customized approach.

“I just felt like it was time to do my own thing,” Johnson said. “I had been doing both Personal Training and Massage Therapy for over 10 years, and while I have greatly enjoyed the places where I’ve worked and the employers that I worked for, I had some of my own ideas of things that I wanted to do.”

Johnson’s ultimate goal for Strength Renewed is to educate the community about the importance and benefits of exercise, nutrition, and massage therapy on physical and mental health.

He plans to eventually host a family-friendly community event with competitions for people of all fitness levels to show the benefits of health and wellness while having fun.

Johnson and his wife moved to Owensboro seven years ago from Virginia Beach. He said they are settling in nicely and are ecstatic to be a part of the local business community.

“It means a great deal to be a part of this community,” he said. “Owensboro is a lot different than what I’m used to, so when my wife and I moved here and saw that everyone seemed to know everyone, we weren’t sure if we would fit in. But, between Church and doing various networking events around the city, I’m starting to feel a little more like I’m a part of this community.”

Strength Renewed resides in the JDQ building at 2625 Frederica St., Suite 2J, in Owensboro. Learn more about the business at www.strengthrenewedobky.com or by searching Strength Renewed on Facebook and Instagram.

Johnson added that current and potential clients can book appointments on the website under the “book your session” option.
