The Brothers in Blue MC Bluegrass Originals Chapter will host its 4th Annual Motorcycle Awareness Ride on September 16. The 2.5-hour ride begins and ends at the AMVETS at 2600 West 2nd Street in Owensboro.

Registration for the event begins at noon, with “kickstands up” at 2. Participants will ride to the riverfront in Tell City and back, where the club will draw for several door prizes and a 50-50 raffle.

The group plans to donate the funds raised this year to a criminal justice scholarship in memory of fallen Tell City police officer Sergeant Heather Glenn. Club president Jacob Seaton said the event is pivotal in supporting the club’s mission.

“Every year, we do a charity ride called to bring awareness and visibility to motorcycles and make folks aware,” Seaton said. “Every year, we donate to local charities, and because we’re composed of police, EMT, fire, and military personnel, this cause really fits our mission.”

The club’s founding principles are support, truth, commitment, honor, respect, loyalty, and charity.

“We were founded to support others in the community,” Seaton said. “Last year we donated to Hospice, and the years before we donated to the Humane Society and OASIS. To give in honor of Heather Glenn was the perfect fit for our club this year.”

The Brothers in Blue has been a part of the Owensboro community for more than a decade. This is just one of the club’s efforts to support Owensboro-Daviess County. They also participate in several charity rides with other chapters across the country.
