Empty Bowls of Owensboro has been awarded a $5,000 donation from EM Ford through the Liberty Mutual and Safeco Insurance “Make More Happen Award.” That donation can be doubled with the help of the community through an online voting contest.
Empty Bowls is a nonprofit dedicated to raising money to assist organizations whose primary role is fighting hunger. The donation will be added to the funds raised during next month’s annual Empty Bowls fundraiser. King’s Table and First Christian Church have been chosen as this year’s co-recipients for the fundraiser.
“We at EM Ford feel it’s important to support the issue of food insecurity in our community and contribute to making a difference for those in need,” said Tina Taylor, EM Ford Personal Lines Agent and Empty Bowls chairperson. “We are grateful to Liberty Mutual and Safeco for providing much-needed funds to continue their impactful work and thrilled at the opportunity to double the donation just by calling on the community to show their support.”
The EM Ford and Empty Bowls of Owensboro community story is being highlighted on the official Make More Happen site at agentgiving.com/EM-Ford. If the featured story receives a mix of at least 500 votes and comments by September 30, the $5,000 donation will be raised to $10,000.
EM Ford, established in 1925, is a full-service independent insurance and financial planning agency serving Kentucky and beyond. Since 2016, EM Ford has actively volunteered with the organization and attended fundraising events including silent auctions and bowl-making events.
“EM Ford is a shining example of our independent agents’ endless dedication to their nonprofit partners through their volunteering, fundraising, and overall awareness efforts,” said Amy Geary Holley, Safeco Insurance Mid-Atlantic Region Senior Territory Manager. “The Make More Happen Awards allow our agents to spread the word about their good deeds and we hope it inspires others in Owensboro to get involved.”
