Husband-and-wife duo Eric and Teri Fulkerson launched Precision Garage Door of Owensboro and Evansville earlier this year. The business specializes in new garage door installation, repairs, and programming and selling automatic openers.
After their children left the house in 2022, the Fulkersons decided to pursue Eric’s long-time dream of becoming a business owner. After working with Matt and Jennifer Lucas at the Franchising Company, LLC, the couple found a business model that suited them.
“The Lucases walked us through a step-by-step process consisting of personality tests, interviews, and site visits,” Eric Fulkerson said. “After interviewing several franchises, we both felt Precision Garage Door was a great match.”
He said they answer their phones 24/7, and online scheduling is available.
“We also strive to offer same-day service, with trained technicians arriving on-site in a branded, fully stocked service vehicle,” Fulkerson said.
The technicians will thoroughly inspect the setting and provide estimates before performing any work.
As a franchise, Precision boasts over 120 locations nationwide and is part of the Neighborly Family of Home service brands, which includes Mr. Appliance and Mosquito Joe. The company offers military and senior citizen discounts.
“We are very excited to be providing a service in communities we are proud to be a part of,” Fulkerson said. “We will actively support other local businesses and charitable organizations. Our plan is to donate a garage door to a local veteran every November.”
Eric graduated from Trinity High School in Whitesville and earned degrees from Illinois State University and Brescia University. Teri is a Daviess County High School and Western Kentucky University graduate, and both have spent the bulk of their career in healthcare.
Teri is the IT project manager at Owensboro Health, while Eric served as the facility manager at Owensboro Health and later St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville. The Fulkersons have two children – Wyatt is an active member of the U.S. Army, while Kaylee is a student at Brescia University.
